It was the final day of the season at York and it was great to end it with a win and finish up leading trainer at the track with a three win margin. Everyone knows I like have winners at my local tracks and to win the title for the eighth time is fantastic. Gleese The Devil has been improving and he showed a fantastic attitude to win for owner Dr Marwan Koukash. He tracked the leaders under jockey George Chaloner and always looked to be travelling well. They hit the front quite early at the three furlong mark and had to battle all the way with Aldreth. The pair set up a thrilling finish but Gleese The Devil wasn’t going to be beaten and got up to win by a neck.
Rashford’s Double picked up his first win of his career at Newcastle. He was held up towards the back of the field and was given a confident ride by Adam McNamara. He chased the leaders two furlongs out and once he hit the front there was no stopping him. He pulled clear to win by a length-and-three-quarters for owners Middleham Park Racing.
