El Viento picked up his first win of the year at Chelmsford. The eight-year-old didn’t come back into training until June after a break of 177 days. He then had to have another break in October so it was great to see him get his head in front. He was held up towards the rear by jockey Paddy Mathers and when they started to make headway they didn’t have a clear run. He was switched right over a furlong out and stayed on well to win by three-quarters-of-a-length.
