EVA MARIA EMOTIONAL WINNER

Eva Maria won on just her second start and it was an emotional victory. The race was named after Laura Barry our former apprentice who lost her battle with cancer. Paul Hanagan was in the saddle at Thirsk and they sat and tracked the leaders. She was asked for an effort two furlongs from home and she stayed on really strongly. She won going away by four-lengths. She’s a half-sister to James Garfield and looks a nice fully for Bill and Tim Gredley. There were lots of Laura’s friends and family at Thirsk to celebrate the win.

Ventura Ocean then handed us a double this time at Newmarket. He pressed the leaders under Paddy Mathers and took up the lead two furlongs from home. He stayed on really well under pressure and crossed the line with Fastman. A photo was needed to separate them but he had held on gamely to win by a nose.

VENTURA OCEANS SWOOPS LATE FOR WIN

Ventura Ocean was very consistent last season and he got his three-year-old career to the best possible start with a win at Pontefract. He was held up towards the rear by apprentice Sean Davis and made headway on the home straight. He challenged down the outside over the final furlong and got up to win by half-a-length for owners Middleham Park Racing.

VENTURA OCEAN PICKS UP FIRST WIN

Ventura Ocean picked up his first win at Pontefract. He had finished second on his previous two starts and showed a good attitude to make all under jockey Paul Hanagan. He was clear of his rivals approaching the final furlong and was eased down to win by a length-and-a-half for owners Middleham Park Racing.
