We’ve had a fantastic couple of days at York with three winners. Society Red got things started with an impressive three-length win. He tracked the leaders under Paul Hanagan and started to make headway over the final two-furlongs.  He ran on strongly and pulled cleared for owner Martyn Macleod.

Starlight Romance then showed a fantastic attitude to battle to victory for Norman and Helen Steel. She was given a great ride by Paul who timed their run perfectly. She was always in touch and was making headway entering the final furlong. She ran down the leaders and got up in the dying strides to win by a neck.

Paddy Power defied top weight to win the final race on Saturday’s card. He tracked the pace and made his challenge on the stands rail inside the final furlong. He had to battle with Presidential but got up to win by a neck for owner Mick Scaife.

Sending out 32 runners in one day you are hoping you have a winner and we had 3. We also had 8 seconds and 3 thirds which is a little bit frustrating but it’s also great to have 11 placed horses. Navarone got the day off to a great start winning really well at Beverley. He tracked the leaders under Paul Hanagan and started to make headway over the final two furlongs. He pulled clear of the rest of the field approaching the final furlong and stayed on powerfully to win by an impressive four-and-a-half-lengths.

We then had a double at Chester and Adam McNamara was in the saddle for both. We had a fantastic battle between our two runners in the seven furlong handicap. Vona made all under Connor Murtagh and showed a brilliant attitude to battle all the way to the line. She was joined by Starlight Romance inside the final furlong and the pair crossed the line together. The photo showed that Starlight Romance had got up to win by a short head for Norman and Helen Steel.

Disappointment for Vona and Nick Bradley Racing in that race but they went on to win the next with Megan Lily. She was always in touch and took up the lead approaching the final furlong. She showed a lovely attitude and kept on to win by half-a-length.

It’s now 25 winners in April so far following a double at Beverley. Starlight Romance has been a consistent filly and it was great to see her get her head in front in a competitive handicap. She tracked the leaders on the rail under jockey Sammy Jo Bell. She was given a patient ride and they had to wait until the final furlong for the gap to open up but when it did Starlight Romance powered clear to win by a length-and-a-half. Well done to owners Norman and Helen Steel.

Atteq then won the next race on the card by an impressive seven lengths. He tracked the leaders under jockey Adam McNamara and they took up the lead heading into the final furlong. They pulled clear for a  memorable win for Al Shaqab Racing.
