It was great to see Queen Kindly back in the winners enclosure again. We had tried stepping her up in trip but it hasn’t suited her and she was much more comfortable back at 6 furlongs. She was always prominent under jockey Tom Eaves and was probably in front too early. She got a bit lonely and the rest of the field started to make their challenge but she stayed on to win by a head for owner Jaber Abdullah.

It was the battle of the Frankel fillies’ in the Lowther Stakes at York and Queen Kindly powered home to win the Group 2 race. Fair Eva was sent off the the 4 to 11 favourite but Richard was always confident of our chances. Richard didn’t hide his disappointment at Queen Kindly finishing third at Royal Ascot as she’s a filly he’s always liked. The following win at Catterick did her the world of good and she’s grown and matured with every week. She’s a very powerful filly and showed us what she’s made of. Jamie Spencer has ridden her every time and he was towards the back of the field along with the favourite. She was always travelling well but we just needed a gap to open up and thankfully it did. She pulled clear and stayed on impressively to win by three-quarters-of-a-length. The first three home were 5 lengths clear of the rest of the field. Owner Jaber Abdullah was there and he was delighted. He bred Queen Kindly from the mare Lady Of The Desert who won the race in 2009.

Jamie was delighted with her after the race and said ”every time you ride her she’s chunkier and more powerful and she never missed a beat today. She was gutsy and tenacious and very professional. I pitched up at Catterick to ride her twice and a three-hour drive to ride her is a joy!”

The Cheveley Park could be her next target.

Queen Kindly 2

We’ve made no secret of the fact that we really like Queen Kindly. After an impressive debut win at Catterick the daughter of Frankel went straight to Royal Ascot and the Albany Stakes. She finished third and it was probably greenness that got her beat there. We were keen to give her another run and a confidence boost so we sent her back to Catterick for a bonus race. She only faced four rivals and as a result went off at 16 to 1 ON. There’s always a bit of pressure at those odds but she won easily under jockey Jamie Spencer and will now go for either the Princess Margaret or the Loather at York.

Oaks day got off to a fantastic start but not at Epsom but at Catterick. Queen Kindly is a daughter of Frankel and a filly we really like. She was sent off the odds on favourite and you’re always a little bit nervous, you can never plan how they will run first time out. Jockey Jamie Spencer knew we liked her and he rode her with plenty of confidence. She was held up just behind the leaders, started to make a move two furlongs from home and soon pulled clear of the rest of the field. She went on to win by 5 lengths on the bridle and looks an exciting prospect for owner Jaber Abdullah.Β IMG_4397
