PYTHAGORAS WINS THE TANKARD!

Pythagoras won the biggest race of his young career, scoring by a neck in the Listed Silver Tankard Stakes at Pontefract under great ride from jockey Paul Hanagan. He was settled close up on outer and was ridden when switched to near side. He took the lead over a furlong out and despite edging left and being hard pressed inside the final 110yds he kept on well to win his third race this season and his biggest to date. Big congratulations to owner/breeder Sir Robert Ogden.

FANTASTIC FOUR TUESDAY

A good day all round for the yard on Tuesday with four winners across two meetings. Delph Crescent and Pythagoras won at Ripon while Lucky Lucky Man and Viceregent completed the four timer by winning at Hamilton.

Delph Crescent and Pythagoras won by a combined thirteen-and-a-half-lengths under two great rides from Silvestre De Sousa. Delph Crescent got his head in front for the first time since August 2019 by making all going away from the field in the final two furlongs. Congratulations to owners Withernsea Thoroughbred Limited. Pythagoras won his second race in a row by impressively coming from the rear end of the field to win by a huge eight-lengths despite running into traffic a couple of times. Congratulations to owner Sir Robert Ogden.

Lucky Lucky Man scored his first win in almost two years winning well by one-and-a-quarter-lengths under jockey Paul Hanagan. Settled in midfield he was pushed along with two furlongs to go and responded well to lead in the final furlong. He was always doing enough and earned himself a deserved win. Congratulations to owners The Musley Bank Partnership & Partner. Viceregent completed the day by continuing his recent good form winning by one-and-a-quarter-lengths under jockey Tony Hamilton. Always tracking the leader he took a slight lead with two furlongs to go and despite being short of room he powered away in the final furlong to record a comfortable success. Congratulations to owners Norman and Helen Steel.

WEDNESDAY DOUBLE

The winners continued to flow this week as Pythagoras and Let Her Loose both broke their maidens at Beverley on Wednesday giving the yard a double for the day.

Pythagoras followed up on his solid debut effort by winning and the second time of asking under a good ride from Andrea Atzeni. Settled just in behind the leaders he was asked to go an win the race in final two furlongs and he soon took a lead he wouldn’t surrender winning comfortably by one-and-three-quarter-lengths. Congratulations to owner Sir Robert Ogden.

Let Her Loose broke her maiden at the eight time of asking scoring by a neck under a well judged ride from Connor Murtagh. She was settled close to front of the race and was shaken up with a furlong to go. She kept on gamely despite being hard pressed to get her well deserved win. Congratulations to owners The Up For Anything Syndicate.
