We had a nice double at Leicester with wins for Plumette and Ventura Gold. Plumette had finished second on her previous three starts and we hoped she would get her head in front in the seller at Leicester. She was held up towards the rear by jockey P J McDonald. They made headway over the final two furlongs and timed their run perfectly to get up and win by half-a-length. She was sold after the race. Mr Buttons ran well to finish third.

Ventura Gold came back off a 132-day break to win under apprentice Sean Davis. He showed a great attitude to battle over the final furlong, when challenged by Elixsoft. Both horses are owned by Middleham Park Racing but it was our boy who stayed on best to win by a neck. It was Sean’s first winner in the UK since moving over from Ireland – a great start to his season.
