WHAT A DAY: IMSHIVALLA SHINES ON OAKS DAY

Imshivalla if we are honest was the biggest surprise of the day. She was the 25 to 1 outsider of the field at Epsom but we let her take her chance especially when she loves the softer ground. The way the race was run suited her perfectly. They didn’t go much of a gallop and she was always prominent under jockey Paul Hanagan. Turning for home Paul found a gap on the rail and they took up the lead two furlongs out. They stayed on strongly and never looked like being caught, winning by one and a quarter lengths. The reaction from the Pow Partnership was brilliant they were caught on camera jumping up and down and shouting her home. She is a tough mare.

GEORGE RIDES WINNER ON RETURN FROM INJURY

On just his second ride back since suffering a bad injury seven months ago George Chaloner rode Imshivalla to victory at Redcar. George suffered three fractures to his foot and two to his ankle when cantering a horse at Richard Whitaker’s yard in October. It’s been a long road to recovery and it was great to see him back in the winners enclosure. Imshivalla loved the soft ground and when they hit the front they were never going to be caught, winning by two-and-a-quarter lengths.
