HUXLEY DOUBLE FOR GENTLE GIANT

Forest Ranger showed how good he is once again winning the Group 2 Huxley Stakes at Chester for the second year in a row. He was always in contention under Tony Hamilton and they had the perfect run round with the pace pulled up by the leader. Tony made his challenge over the final furlong and Forest Ranger pulled clear to win by three-quarters-of-a-length. A fantastic result for owners Norman and Helen Steel.

GROUP 2 SUCCESS FOR FOREST RANGER

Forest Ranger followed up his Group 3 in the Sefton Stakes at Newmarket last month with a Group 2 win in the Huxley Stakes at Chester. He needed to prove himself at the trip and jockey Tony Hamilton wasn’t sure if he would handle to tight track because he’s such a big horse but he put all doubts to rest with an impressive win. He tracked the favourite Eminent and when he dropped away after the turn for home Forest Ranger was left to battle for the win from the front. He stayed on strongly to win by a length-and-a-quarter. A fantastic result for owners Norman and Helen Steel. Richard also ended the three day festival as leading trainer with 3 wins, 4 seconds and a third.

FOREST RANGER IMPRESSES IN GROUP 3

Forest Ranger has always been a horse we like, he’s a big boy and he was always going to be better this year. He showed how good he is in the Group 3 Earl Of Sefton Stakes at Newmarket. He was gelded before his first run of the season and it seems to have helped. He was always travelling strongly under Tony Hamilton and had the lead approaching the final two furlongs. He showed a great attitude to battle with the favourite Deauville and stayed on strongly to get up and win by half-a-length for owners Norman and Helen Steel.

FOREST RANGER SPRINGS A SURPRISE

Forest Ranger was sent off 25 to 1 for the Condtions Stakes at Newcastle but his win didn’t come as a surprise to us. He’s a great big horse and one we’ve always liked. Looking at the race it was very competitive. Godolphin had purchased Syphax and there had been money for three other runners in the race. Tony Hamilton took the ride and he settled Forest Ranger at the back of the field. He was always travelling strongly and Tony started to move into contention over the final two furlongs. He hit the front inside the final furlong and pulled clear to win by an impressive two-and-three-quarter-lengths. A fantastic result for owners Norman and Helen Steel. Forest Ranger has entries in the Dante and the German Guineas.

DOUBLE DELIGHT AT REDCAR

It was a great day for owners Norman and Helen Steel who had travelled over to watch their horses run at Redcar. Forest Ranger was making his racecourse debut and he won in style. The Lawman colt was held up towards the rear by jockey Tony Hamilton and they started to make their move over the final furlong. They pulled clear of the rest of the field under hands and heels to win by a length. He looks an exciting prospect. Norman and Helen also had a second on the day with Reinstorm beaten a neck and Buccaneers Cove ran a solid race to finish third.

We doubled up on the card with Chiswick Bey. Adam McNamara in the saddle this time and he gave him a great ride to win at 14 to 1. He was held up in mid-division and made headway over the final two furlongs. He took up the lead inside the final furlong and stayed on to win by half-a-length for his first victory of the season.
