CROWN OF CORTEZ & LORD COMMANDER WIN AHEAD OF SALES

There were well timed wins for Crown of Cortez and Lord Commander at Newcastle as they head to the horse in training sale next week. Crown Of Cortez made it two wins on the bounce for owners Cheveley Park Stud. The Pivitol gelding was always in contention under Paul Hanagan and had the lead approaching the final furlong. He stayed on well to win by three-quarters-of-a-length.

Lord Commander picked up the first win of his career. He was held up just behind the leaders and started to make headway approaching the final furlong. He was soon clear and stayed on strongly to win by a dominant three lengths for Nick Bradley Racing.

CROWN OF CORTEZ WINS NEWCASTLE NURSERY

Crown Of Cortez wore blinkers for the first time and they did the trick at Newcastle. The Pivotal gelding was always travelling strongly under Tony Hamilton and when he was asked for an effort over the final two furlongs he obliged. He battled with the favourite Foxy Lady and got up to win by half-a-length.
