Axe Axelrod is a horse we have always liked and he finally showed on the track what we have been seeing at home. A strong pace was set at Wolverhampton and Tony Hamilton was happy to sit a few lengths back in second. He mounted a challenge on the turn for home and it was great to see Axe Axelrod battle for the lead. He got his head in front in the final half furlong and stayed on to win by neck. He should have learnt a lot for the experience.

Merchants and Missionaries then doubled up in the next race with Pacino. He was always in touch and had the lead at the furlong pole. He was challenged all the way to the line but held on gamely to win by a neck.
