A Tuesday evening trip to Newcastle proved fruitful for members of Middleham Park Racing with a double on the card. Ballymore Castle finally showed us what he can do winning the Claiming Stakes. He jumped well from the stalls and was held up in mid-division by jockey Andrew Mullen. He always looked to be travelling well and pressed for the lead approaching the final furlong. He hit the front and stayed on to win by a length-and-a-quarter.
Ventura Gold then bought the double up showing a great attitude to get up on the line to claim his first win. He was held up in the rear by jockey Paul Hanagan and they switched left approaching the final furlong to get a run. He ran on strongly battling with Viking Way and Elixsoft and got up in the nick of time to win by a head.
